چکیده

This paper proposes a low-complexity parameter update algorithm to spatio-temporal filter for suppressing the cochannel interference in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation systems. The conventional spatiotemporal filter employs the recursive eigenvalue decomposition algorithm to perform the parameter estimation and update. In the mobile environment, all the points during a data OFDM symbol are used for parameter update. This paper proposes an incomplete parameter update for the conventional spatio-temporal filter, where only a fraction of points during a data OFDM symbol are used for parameter update, while the others are ignored. In this way, the computational complexity of the parameter update can be reduced to some extent with negligible performance degradation. Computer simulations under IEEE 802.11a demonstrate the validity of the proposed incomplete parameter update algorithm.

Joint Filtering Scheme to Suppress the Cochannel Interference in MIMO-OFDM Mobile Communication

This paper proposes a novel joint filtering technique in order to suppress the cochannel interference for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation systems. There are conventionally two techniques to suppress cochannel interference: 1) spatio-temporal filtering (STF) the received signals prior to the fast Fourier transform (FFT), termed p...

Adaptive antenna arrays for OFDM systems with cochannel interference

Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) is one of the promising techniques for future mobile wireless data systems. For OFDM systems with cochannel interference, adaptive antenna arrays can be used for interference suppression. This paper focuses on a key issue for adaptive antenna arrays, that is, parameter estimation for the minimum mean square error (MMSE) diversity combiner (DC). ...

Selective Tone Reservation method for PAPR reduction in SFBC-OFDM systems

The high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and MIMO-OFDM systems reduces the system efficiency. In this paper, an extension of Tone Reservation (TR) method is introduced for PAPR reduction in Space Frequency Block Coded OFDM (SFBC-OFDM) systems. The proposed algorithm is based on a time domain kernel which is added to the signal of the anten...

Spatial–Temporal Equalization for IS-136 TDMA Systems with Rapid Dispersive Fading and Cochannel Interference

In this paper, we investigate spatial–temporal equalization for IS-136 time-division multiple-access (TDMA) cellular/PCS systems to suppress intersymbol interference and cochannel interference and improve communication quality. This research emphasizes channels with large Doppler frequency (up to 184 Hz), delay dispersion under one symbol duration, and strong cochannel interference. We first pr...
